Thank you so much for choosing me to capture this precious milestone for your family!
Newborn Photography in Nashville & Mount Juliet

Thank you so much for choosing me to capture this precious milestone for your family! As you look forward to your newborn session, you might be wondering what comes next. Rest assured, I’ll guide you every step of the way to ensure you feel totally prepared for our time together. My goal is to capture your family’s authentic moments—embracing the beautiful chaos that makes your bond so special.

To keep things as easy as possible, I’ll have essentials on hand, including snacks, drinks, diapers, and wipes. If there’s anything specific you need, just let me know. I also have a variety of props, from buckets and bowls to cars, carriages, beds, wicker items, trains, and airplanes. Plus, I offer a range of outfits for boys and girls, along with different colored swaddles. While I don’t have photos of everything, feel free to browse my website or Facebook for a glimpse of what’s available.

Over the past 12+ years, I’ve photographed thousands of newborns, creating a calm, patient, and baby-led experience for every family that walks through my studio doors. Your baby’s safety and comfort will always come before any photograph. Every pose is done gently and naturally, never forcing baby into a position they aren’t comfortable with. Every session is designed around your baby’s needs, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and cuddles. To maintain a clean and healthy environment, every wrap, blanket, outfit, headband, hat, prop, and posing surface is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before and after each session. I also limit the number of newborn sessions I photograph each day so every setup has time to be properly cleaned and prepared before welcoming another family.

A Safe, Clean, & Comfortable Experience

Welcoming your newborn into my studio is something I never take lightly. With over 12 years of professional photography experience and thousands of babies photographed, your little one’s comfort and safety are always my highest priorities.

Before every newborn session, all wraps, blankets, outfits, posing fabrics, and props are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Hard surfaces, baskets, beds, and specialty props are disinfected between every baby, and my studio is carefully cleaned throughout the day to maintain a safe environment for every family.

Unlike a high-volume studio, I intentionally limit the number of newborn sessions I photograph each day. This allows me the time to properly sanitize every prop and setup, prepare each session with care, and give every family the relaxed, unhurried experience they deserve.

Every pose is guided by your baby’s comfort, and I never force a pose that doesn’t feel natural. Sessions are baby-led, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, cuddling, and breaks whenever they’re needed.

My goal is simple: to create beautiful, timeless images while giving you complete confidence that your newborn is being cared for in a clean, calm, and welcoming environment.

What’s Your Style?

Choosing the Perfect Newborn Session

I offer two distinct newborn photography experiences, each with its own unique style. Whether you prefer the relaxed feel of natural light or timeless studio portraits with carefully curated props, both sessions are designed to create beautiful images you’ll treasure for years to come.

Lifestyle Session

West Nashville Natural Light Studio

If you love bright, airy, and authentic moments, a Lifestyle Session may be the perfect fit. These sessions take place in my beautiful West Nashville natural light studio and focus on genuine connections between you and your new baby.

With soft window light, neutral surroundings, and minimal styling, the emphasis is on your family’s love and those first precious moments together. These sessions are relaxed, baby-led, and beautifully simple, creating timeless images that never feel overly posed.

Studio Session

Mount Juliet Studio

My Studio Sessions are perfect for parents who love artistic newborn portraits and a more styled experience. These sessions take place in my Mount Juliet studio, where I offer a carefully curated collection of wraps, blankets, outfits, headbands, bonnets, baskets, beds, and specialty props.

Each setup is thoughtfully designed using beautiful textures, colors, and backgrounds while always following your baby’s comfort and natural pace. The result is a timeless gallery filled with a wonderful mix of classic newborn portraits and creative, beautifully styled images.

What To Expect

During Your Session

My sessions have a relaxed, unhurried pace to keep baby calm, happy, and safe. Your baby sets the pace, with plenty of time for soothing, diaper changes, feeding, and cuddling. I like to photograph siblings and parent portraits first so we can then focus on baby-only images for the remainder of the session. The studio is kept very warm to keep your little one comfortable, so dressing in layers is a good idea.

Once family portraits are complete, I’ll move on to photographing baby alone. I’ll carefully prepare the wraps, props, and setups you’ve selected for your session.

Patience is key! Every baby is different, and I always follow your baby’s cues. Getting a newborn settled into a deep sleep can take time, and it’s completely normal for babies to need feeding, cuddling, diaper changes, or comforting throughout the session. In fact, I’d say nearly half of every newborn session is spent meeting baby’s needs rather than taking photographs—and that’s exactly how it should be.

If your little one doesn’t want to sleep, that’s perfectly okay! We’ll simply work with whatever your baby is giving us that day. Wide-awake newborn portraits can be just as beautiful and meaningful as sleepy ones. I simply ask that everyone remain calm and relaxed, as babies are incredibly sensitive and can pick up on the energy in the room.

Accidents happen! Your baby will spend much of the session without a diaper, so it’s completely normal if they decide to use a blanket, prop, or even me as their personal potty. Please don’t feel embarrassed—it happens during almost every newborn session! Every blanket, wrap, outfit, prop, and posing surface is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each baby.

If you plan to include siblings in your session, I recommend bringing them at the beginning or end of your appointment. Once their portraits are finished, having someone take them home (or out for a little adventure) helps keep the studio calm, quiet, and relaxing for the remainder of baby’s session. I understand this is not always possible and that is completely fine.

Preparing For Your Session

Getting the Most From Your Session

A little preparation goes a long way toward creating a relaxed, successful newborn session. These simple tips will help your baby stay comfortable, sleepy, and ready for those beautiful portraits.

A Full, Sleepy Baby

Newborns photograph best when they’re comfortably full and sleepy. If possible, try to keep your baby awake for 60–90 minutes before your appointment. Feeding your baby just before (or as soon as you arrive) often helps them settle into a deep sleep.

Because my studio is kept warm for baby’s comfort, little ones naturally become cozy and sleepy once wrapped and settled.

Dress Baby Loosely

Loose-fitting clothing is best! A simple zipper sleeper or a loose swaddle works perfectly. Tight socks, snug diapers, or fitted clothing can leave temporary marks on your baby’s skin, which can take time to fade before we begin photographing.

A Few Extra Tips

  • Keep baby awake for 60–90 minutes before your appointment if possible.
  • Feed baby right before leaving home or once you arrive at the studio.
  • Avoid spicy foods for 24 hours before your session if you’re breastfeeding and notice they affect your baby.
  • If possible, avoid scheduling vaccinations within 48 hours of your newborn session.
  • Try to arrive a few minutes early so everyone can settle in before we begin.
  • Most importantly—come relaxed! Babies pick up on our energy. The calmer you are, the calmer your baby is likely to be.

What To Bring

  • Extra bottles or formula (if needed)
  • Pacifiers (even if baby rarely uses one—they can be incredibly helpful during posing)
  • Extra diapers and wipes
  • An extra outfit for baby
  • Any sentimental items you’d like photographed (blankets, heirlooms, stuffed animals, etc.)
  • Gas drops if your baby is especially gassy (optional)
  • Snacks or quiet entertainment for siblings

You’ll likely be at the studio for a couple of hours, so feel free to bring a drink or anything else that helps you stay comfortable while I work with your little one.

Clothing Guide

What Should We Wear?

Choosing outfits doesn’t have to be stressful! Soft, neutral colors photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on your family’s connection.

I Recommend

  • White
  • Cream
  • Beige
  • Soft Gray
  • Blush
  • Dusty Blue
  • Sage Green
  • Light Brown / Camel

These colors create timeless images that won’t go out of style.

Try to Avoid

  • Bright neon colors
  • Large logos or graphics
  • Busy patterns
  • Bright red or fluorescent colors
  • Apple Watches or smart watches
  • Hair ties worn on wrists

Mom

Flowy dresses, cozy sweaters, or simple neutral tops photograph beautifully. If you decide to do press on nails try and apply them the night before. The trick to getting them to stay is filing the top of your nail first! 😉

Dad

A fitted neutral t-shirt, henley, or button-down paired with jeans or khakis is perfect.

Siblings

Keep everyone in similar neutral tones without trying to match exactly. Coordinating colors always photograph better than identical outfits.
